Surfer’s Chapel, Huntington Beach: Pastor/Teacher Bill White “Power” (#1 in a series) preached 7/1/95

By His Spirit we have the power over temptation and sin.

Sin= any voluntary transgression of divine law. Doing what you shouldn’t.

Genesis 3:8 – Sin will keep you from God, draws you away

Joshua 6:18 – All good with God, Don’t mess with the wrong stuff.

Joshua 7:1 – Achen messes things up for Israel.

Joshua 7:10-26 – Don’t be caught in sin!

Be Holy, consecrated to the Lord, like Adam and Eve we run from the judgment of the Lord.

We as Christians are redeemed by Christ, and can not find lasting pleasure in sin. Just guilt.

Sin may satisfy, but it never gratifies.

Galatians 5:21 – Don’t live like that! You should want to inherit the kingdom.

Isaiah 59:2 – our iniquities create a barrier from our Father, who really wants that? It’s nuts.

2 Corinthians 4:4 – The God of this world doesn’t want us to receive salvation, to see God. We’re bent in our sin-nature, and without a desire to live in the Spirit, fleeing from evil and temptations, it’s not a happy life (despite what the world may say/show in the media). In your quiet times, by yourself, alone, do you have the peace of God? He’s always at work and calling you closer!

Galatians 3:1-4 – Bewitched! Such a crazy term, but right! Witchcraft, Pharmachia, drug use, blinded by drugs by Satan. Satan has a stronghold in this world, you shouldn’t go looking for it!

Galatians 5:13 – You are FREE in Him! Walk in that freedom! New life is HERE!

Galatians 2:20 – We can be truly free because He loved us unto death. We should walk obedient, casting our ruined lives down for His perfection to reign in us (by His Spirit!).

Titus 3:3-8 – “These things are good and profitable for men.” I’m all about it, aren’t you?
