Surfer’s Chapel, Huntington Beach: Pastor/Teacher Bill White from 6/22/1996 [from a sermon series started 6/8/1996, at my home church in Huntington Beach, Ca.]
Catalyst speeds up or slows down a chemical reaction, yet retains it’s chemical makeup.
Interaction with God as He works in our life is similar to the interaction of catalyst and resin.
God changes us from the inside-out, frowns becomes smiles
He’s the LORD OF ALL, OR NOT AT ALL.
2 Cor 5:17: “if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation, the old has passed, behold, the new has come.”
1 Kings 8:61 Heart must be fully committed to God, and keep His statutes!
1 Thessalonians 5: Spirit, soul, and body blameless. Consecration. Totally turned over life.
Consecrate: To make or become sacred.
Luke 16:13 God knows our hearts! We need to be fully under His control, He’s everything <knows, sees, has made>
Justification/Rationalization: we should never keep anything, or any areas of our life away from God. A christian who won’t give all their life to God is like a board made with ¾ catalyzed resin. That would be a crummy board! God has a plan for our lives.
Matthew 13:44-45 Field of treasures and fine pearls, (the Kingdom of Heaven)
Allow God total access to your life.
We’re the reason He’s the Catalyst.

[I attended Surfer’s chapel in the mid-90’s, right before moving to New Mexico. Everyone at Surfer’s chapel either surfed regularly, or were married/dating/or otherwise related to someone who did. As a result everyone who attended SC knew how surfboards are made. Surfboards, at the time and probably even now in some places (I’m not in the scene anymore, so it could have changed over the 3-decades I’ve been in New Mexico). Surfboards, basically were/are foam shapes covered with fiberglass and sealed with catalyst-activated resin. Therefore this sermon, and the series, was on-point with the fellowship in attendance.]
